SUPPORT OUR WORKMSF Financial Information
Financial Independence and Accountability Support from individuals like you is essential to our ability to operate independently, and allows Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres (MSF) to respond at a moment's notice to the most urgent emergencies, often in countries and regions that are otherwise forgotten. MSF's decision to intervene in any crisis is based solely on our independent assessment of people's needs—not political, economic, or religious interests. Our freedom to act and make decisions independently enables us to respond more quickly and to be the first on the scene to provide emergency medical assistance, even in areas farthest from media attention. MSF strives to operate efficiently and to minimize fundraising and administrative costs. Between 1995 and 2011, MSF-USA allocated more than 85 percent of its expenditures to MSF's social mission–programs and public education activities. Maintaining this standard is a high priority for us. MSF-USA has consistently met all standards of watchdog agencies and has recently been awarded an "A" rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy. The watchdog agencies' reports are available to the general public. Please read our Commitment to Our Supporters, an expression of our commitment to you, our supporters, on how MSF uses your donations to reach people in need in the most effective and cost-efficient manner, while adhering to stringent fundraising ethics. MSF-USA operates in a manner consistent with the Association of Fundraising Professionals' (AFP's) Donor Bill of Rights and the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice. Doctors Without Borders USA, Inc., is recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
